AIDA Accreditation

From the feedback I received on AIDA Accreditation, people emphasised the need for there to be a consistent standard across the region in
what is good debating and good adjudicating. The idea of accreditation was designed to help make and keep adjudicating consistent, by recognising good adjudicating and good adjudicators, encouraging people to work on their skills and to make adjudicating more important.

However, the system has fallen into disrepair. No one has been accredited in recent memory and no recent adjudication core has used
accreditation in allocating adjudicators. There is, in effect, no AIDA Accreditation at the moment. Something needs to be done.

I am not sure what form the resolution to this situation would take, so I am not proposing any particular motion on accreditation itself
to Council. If anyone would like to come to Council with a specific proposal for moving this situation forward, they are more than welcome. Alternatively, it is open to Council to remove accreditation from the constitution altogether if it is seen as appropriate. This would require waiving of the notice period for constitutional amendments.

I would like to propose one specific change, however. The requirement that AIDA accredited adjudicators must be given a discount on
registration is out of touch and is problematic for organising committees in planning and convening tournaments.

Motion: Remove s53.1.2 from the Constitution

s53.1.2 currently reads:
53.1.2 All AIDA accredited adjudicators must be given a minimum 10% discount on the full registration charged at an Australasian Championship.

Explanation: As long as accreditation is not a working system, the requirement that AIDA accredited adjudicators must be given a discount seems out of place and is causing difficulties for organising committees without any significant benefit.
